A new alliance is reshaping Italy’s renowned tanning district. Itan Group is a synergistic network of five leading Tuscan tanneries with a shared goal to promote the excellence of Italian leather through authenticity, innovation and sustainability.
Brazil’s leather exports reached $ 97.3 million in September 2025, The figure marks an 18.5% increase compared to August but reflects a 4.8% drop from the same month last year when exports stood at US$ 102.1 million.
Ecco Leather’s tannery in Dongen faces an uncertain future five months after a devastating fire hit the site earlier this year. The Ecco leather confirmed that it is currently reviewing the future role of the facility within the Ecco group.
The Italian leather industry is mourning the passing of one of its most influential pioneers. Bruno Mastrotto, a leading figure in Veneto’s tanning sector and founder of Gruppo Mastrotto, passed away at the age of 84.

A major fire erupted at the Sanjay Leather Company factory in Mughal Majra village, Kunjpura in Haryana after a machine overheated. Leather stocked quickly caught fire, filling the area with thick smoke as workers rushed out to safety.
