Kanpur based leather exporters are facing major losses as shipments worth over ₹500 crore (~$54 Million) are stranded near the Strait of Hormuz due to regional conflict, raising alarms in Uttar Pradesh’s leather industry.

The Leathergoods and Footwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB) has officially rebranded itself as the Footwear, Leathergoods & Accessories Exporters Association (FLAXA).

TFL, a global leather chemicals company, announced that CEO André Lanning has stepped down from his role to pursue another professional opportunity. His last working day was March 10, 2026.

FGL International has acquired the finishing division of Repico Spa, a Lombardy based company active in the leather chemicals sector since 1948.

The global leather industry organisation said the changes aim to present its work more clearly and make information about leather easier to access.

International social enterprise VisionSpring has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Leathergoods and Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB) to implement the Clear Vision Workplace (CVW) Program across LFMEAB member factories in Bangladesh’s leather, leather goods and footwear industry.

Sanjay Kumar, CEO of the Leather Sector Skill Council (LSSC), passed away unexpectedly after battling a blood infection since January, according to colleagues.
