India’s leather and allied products industry is bracing for a tough year as revenues are projected to fall by 10-12% in the current fiscal following steep US tariffs, according to Crisil Ratings.
Just weeks after suggesting a one-year delay, the European Commission has reversed its position on the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). On October 21, it confirmed that the law will take effect for medium and large companies from December 30, 2025 as originally planned.
The European Commission’s latest proposal to modify the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) has left Italy’s tanning industry deeply disappointed. Fabrizio Nuti, president of UNIC – Concerie Italiane, expressed strong dissatisfaction, calling it “yet another profound disappointment” from Brussels.

Chinese footwear exports are showing a consistent decline, continuing a slowdown that started in 2024. According to data from APICCAPS, between January and August 2025, exports dropped by 2% in volume to 6.05 billion pairs and by 8.8% in value to $28.9 billion US dollars compared to the same period last year.

LVMH reported revenue of €18.3 billion in the third quarter of the 2025 financial year, marking a 1% year-on-year increase compared to the same period in 2024.
ILPA President Arjun Mukund Kulkarni highlighted the significance of industry events. On challenges with US tariffs he said, Of course yes we face problems and we faced issues that’s why we are trying to take our business to some other countries like South America Russia and Europe.
Hermès continued its steady growth in the third quarter of 2025, posting sales of €3.9 billion, up 10% at constant exchange rates. The French luxury house saw improvement across Europe, the Americas and Asia compared to the previous quarter.
