Dome Auctions from the Netherlands is hosting an online auction featuring a wide range of branded tannery machinery and equipment from Vitelco Hulshof’s tannery.
The auction will close on October 8, 2025
The Ondangwa Northern Tannery in Namibia is finally set to come back to life after being dormant for 15 years. The government on Friday 26th September finalised an agreement to revive the facility.
“The agreement and revival of the tannery represent a beginning of new partnership, collaborative relationship and investment in our agro-processing value chain towards value addition and job creation,”
The CLE has decided to send trade delegations to Russia and Africa to find new opportunities. Jalan highlighted the hurdles, noting differences in consumer trends across countries.
“Tapping into new markets is never a quick process. Locating alternative markets on short notice is tough because shoe sizes, design preferences and consumer trends vary widely between regions. We hope this tariff is temporary and that the government will extend a support package of 20-25%”

Brazil’s Inmetro now requires mandatory shoe labeling following ABNT NBR 16679/2018 for all sales. Producers must comply by July 2026 and retailers by December 2027. Labels include brand, CNPJ, origin, size, materials, and GTIN code.
Kothari Industrial Corporation Limited (KICL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Italy’s Accademia IUAD (Institute of Universal Art and Design) to set up a joint venture in India. This move is aimed at creating a world-class training center in Tamil Nadu.
The Council for Leather Exports (CLE) in partnership with the High Commission of India in London is inviting UK footwear and leather buyers to the India Footwear and Leather Products Show.
