The European Commission is set to exclude leather from its anti deforestation law, EU officials told sources on April 30, 2026.

Brazil’s leather industry exported hides and skins worth $94.9 million in March 2026, as shipments increased in volume but declined in value.

TFL interim CEO Samer Al Jabi said the ongoing Gulf conflict is causing sustained disruptions to the company’s global supply chain, impacting logistics routes, energy availability and raw material supply worldwide.

Prada developed the collection in collaboration with 2 government organisations, LIDCOM (Sant Rohidas Leather Industries & Charmakar Development Corporation Ltd) and LIDKAR (Dr Babu Jagjivan Ram Leather Industries Development Corporation Ltd).

The agreement gives 100% duty free access to Indian exports across all tariff lines, boosting sectors like leather, footwear & other products.

In FY2023-24, India’s leather, leather products and footwear exports to New Zealand stood at ₹55.13 crore (~$5.84 million at current exchange rate), contributing just 0.15% in value terms.

Mulberry has launched a limited edition collection of bags in collaboration with British Pasture Leather to mark 55 years of Mulberry and 5 years of its Made To Last Manifesto. The collection features an entirely UK-based supply chain using hides from 100% pasture fed British cattle certified by Pasture For Life.

PTA Central Chairman Hamid Zahur, along with PTA South Zone Chairman Dr. Danish Aman and members, received the delegation. The Pakistan leather industry body discussed ways to expand bilateral trade with Uzbekistan.

April 29, 2026 is World Leather Day. This year’s theme set by Leather Naturally is, “Make It Leather”, it is about choosing materials that last. From timeless style to everyday durability, leather is made to be lived in, repaired & loved for years.

As we celebrate World Leather Day, I want to recall something, back in 2019, when I was an engineering student in leather technology at the Department of Leather Technology, Anna University, housed at CSIR-CLRI, doing exactly what this year’s theme asks, making things with leather.
