The African Leather and Leather Products Institute (ALLPI) called on Zimbabwe’s leather sector players to collaborate to solve poor quality and low capacity utilisation at a stakeholders workshop held in Bulawayo on Thursday, 16 April 2026.

The French leather industry posted a €4.9 billion trade surplus in 2025, with exports reaching €18.6 billion despite a global slowdown in trade.

Footwear exports reached 9.02 billion pairs, down by 2.0% in volume. In value terms, exports stood at $41.55 billion, showing a sharper fall of 11.3%.

The Leather and Hide Council of America (LHCA) and China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) held a seminar on March 13, 2026, in Hong Kong during APLF 2026 to present interim results of leather life cycle assessment (LCA) and carbon footprint accounting.
