LINEAPELLE 105 concluded with 24,977 attendees (+7% from Sept 2024) and 1,100+ exhibitors. From fashion shows to artisanal workshops, the event was a hub of innovation. LINEAPELLE 106 moves to new halls in Sept 2025.

Italian exotic leather maker White Line has acquired stakes in Reptilis, forming the first independent group offering premium crocodile, python, lizard & ostrich leather. A full merger is set for 2026, aiming for €20M sales & 25-30% job growth.

Italy’s leather supply chain saw an 8.6% decline in turnover, with exports falling 8.2% to €25 Billion. Job losses are expected to surpass 5,900. While France & Germany saw slight declines, the UAE (+37.1%) and Japan (+8.8%) showed growth.

Two young scientists win the 2025 IULTCS Research Grants for leather studies. Mr. Zoheb Akhter (New Zealand) explores alkaline hydrolysis, while Dr. Yudan Yi (China) develops eco-friendly metal-free leather.

PT Hung Fu Leather Indonesia has opened a new 30,000 sqm facility in Sukabumi, boosting premium cowhide leather production for footwear. This expansion strengthens Indonesia’s leather industry and creates new opportunities for global brands.

Italy’s leather goods sector saw an €1.2Billion turnover loss in 2024, forcing 184 closures & 2,000 job cuts. Exports dropped 9.3%, and leather bag sales plunged 11.2%. A slow recovery is expected, with optimism set for 2025-26.
